Open-source licences
Last updated: 16 October 2026
MithoLens is built with open-source software. Most of it, including Next.js and React, is under permissive licences such as MIT, Apache 2.0 and BSD. The libraries on this page are under the GNU Lesser General Public License, which asks us to tell you that we use them and where to get their source code.
iPhone (HEIC) photo conversion
When you upload an iPhone photo in HEIC format that your browser cannot open by itself, the website converts it in your browser before it is uploaded. It uses these libraries, each licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 3 or (at your option) any later version:
heic-to 1.5.2
Source codeConverts the photo in your browser, using the two libraries below.
libheif 1.22.2
Source codeReads the HEIC file format.
libde265 1.0.16
Source codeDecodes the image inside the HEIC file.
We use these libraries as published, without changes. Your browser downloads them only when it needs them to convert a photo.
The licence texts are here: the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 3, and the GNU General Public License, version 3, which it builds on. These libraries come with no warranty, as the licences explain.
If a source link above stops working, email us at support@mitholens.com and we will send you the source code for the versions we use.
